Dear Polish Friends:
We are having a Polish Birthday “Polski Urodziny” party at our house on Saturday, August 14 from 6:30 p.m. until 12 midnight. Anyone that is interested in Polish music, food and fellowship is invited to attend. We will not be sending out any invitations, but would like for you to invite anyone that would enjoy our Polish heritage and traditions. This Polish party is to celebrate my 55th birthday. We ask that you do not bring any gifts, but would like for everyone to bring a Polish food dish. You are encouraged to bring your favorite mother’s ( Matka’s ) or grandma’s ( Boosha’s ) Polish recipe. It will be fun to try everyone’s Polish family dishes. Kathy and I will have cold keg beer, but if you prefer to bring something different, you are welcome to do so. In addition, bring extra lawn chairs in case we need them. We will have several tables and chairs available, but we may need more. Last year, we had 13 musicians playing Polish music throughout the night and we expect to have the same crew this year! They will be playing Polish music that came with our families to Texas over 125 years ago! Also, this year we will have a hay ride, horseshoes, Polish pitch and washers for people to play. Feel free to forward this to your friends and family that would like to join in on the fun and entertainment. You are encouraged to invite you kids and grand kids and let’s make some great Polish memories! This will be a great family opportunity to embrace our Polish heritage.

Jim Mazurkiewicz is a Texas native whose family originally settled in Washington County, Texas at the turn of the twentieth century. His family still owns and operates the family farm in Chappell Hill. He graduated from Waller High School and received a B.S. and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and a Masters from Texas Tech University. Dr Jim is currently a Professor and Extension Specialist for Leadership Programs as TALL Director for Texas AgriLife Extension a member of The Texas A&M System and its statewide Agriculture Program. Jim takes great pride in his Polish heritage and plays Polish music on his concertina accordion.
