In these modern times, many people have forgotten that the traditional Christmas season lasts for 40 days, from Christmas Day until Candlemas or the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The parishioners of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill Texas were reminded of this tradition on Sunday, January 22, 2012 by a beautiful kolędy concert held in the church. Kolednicy z Houston or Christmas Carolers from Our Lady Of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Houston arrived in Chappell Hill for the 9 am Mass.
Five year old Sarah Winiarska sang Przybiezeli do Bethlehem for the offertory hymn and high school student Yessica Krozel sang a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria during Communion. After Mass, Dr. Jim Mazurkiewicz welcomed the singers and guests from Our Lady Of Czestochowa and concert organizer Maryna Kestowicz- Lech introduced the singers.
The concert began with Karolina Krozel singing kolędy and then entertainment by Bernard Krol playing the accordion accompanied by singers Bozena Krol, Iwona Makosa and Roman Makosa. Janek Zurawski sang several songs that he composed, followed by Edek Winiarski and then Yessica Krozel concluded the concert by singing Silent Night in Polish and English.
