It’s been a long time since Anderson Texas has received any significant amount of rain but on Sunday, October 9, 2011, the day of St. Stanislaus Catholic Churches 57th annual homecoming bazaar, the skies opened up and the rain continued for much of the day. The good soaking rain was a welcome sight and it didn’t stop the die-hard bazaar fans from having a good time. The day began with a Holy Mass celebrated by pastor Fr. JoJo Cal-Ortiz and a blessing in the parish hall.
At 11:00 am, the parish hall filled up with parishioners and guests for a delicious barbecue brisket and sausage meal with all the fixings, home made deserts and ice tea. There were lots of booths for the adults and games for the kids in the covered pavilion. ‘Babusha’s Porch’ had plenty of homemade food, crafts and decorative items. Tommy Szymczak and his auction crew sold lots of really nice items including some beautiful cedar furniture. A raffle drawing with lots of great prizes was held after the auction ended.
As usual, Polish Texans of all ages gathered under the big tent to listen to Polish dance band fiddler Brian Marshall and his group of talented musician friends and relatives who always put on a great show. This year was no exception as the musicians kept dancers busy on the wooden dance floor. The crowd really liked the music of the young generation playing with their fathers. This year the list of musicians and singers included Brian Marshall, Jakub Marshall, Michal Marshall, Phillip Berger, Kyle Berger, Sonny Janczak, Larry Vivian, Chuck Bolin, Cathey Bolin, Kevin Syzdek, James Mazurkiewicz, Ron Kasowski, Jacob Kasowski, Donovan Pavlock and Eddie Marshall.
Below are a few photos of the fun and there is a slideshow of more photos on page 2. There are a few music videos in the Polish Texans Video section or you can see more videos on our YouTube Channel.
