A hot Texas day didn’t stop the large crowd of people who came to Chappell Hill Texas on Sunday, September 2, 2012 for St. Stanislaus Catholic Church’s 75th annual homecoming bazaar. A delicious catered barbecue dinner from Chappell Hill Bakery & Deli was served beginning at 11am along with plenty of cold beer and soft drinks. There were Grocery, Ham, Grandma Kolaches and Cake booths along with bingo for the adults and a toy booth, moon walk, train ride and other activities for the kids. The live auction with lots of great items was held at 2pm.
Around 3 o’clock in the afternoon a Polish music jam session by Polska Kapela was held under a big shade tree. There were lots of talented musicians and singers at the jam session including Dr. Jim and James Mazurkiewiecz, Frank Motley, CJ Jozwiak, David Waters, Charlie Brossman, Seth Bolin, Brian Wisnoski and Robert Herridge.
There was lots of fun under the pavilion starting at 4 pm as Daniel Cendalski and the Country Boys and Robert Zientek and the ZenTexas band entertained the crowd at the evening dance with a mix of old Polish and Texas country music. At 9 pm, while the bands took a break, St. Stanislaus pastor Fr. Jozef Musiol presided over the raffle drawing which included plenty of great prizes. Prizes were presented to the top three adult raffle ticket sellers. The prizes included cash and Zubrowka, Krupnik and Sobieski Polish vodka.
Earlier in the day, the top three ticket selling children were honored as “przodownica” leading female harvester and “przodownik” leading male harvester of the upcoming St. Stanislaus Dozynki Mass Celebration. In addition, they will be in the front of the altar like you set up for a wedding in the church and they will dance with the dziedzic (squire, lord, nobleman) and his wife to kick off the dance. The three kids are Tim Murski’s daughter – first place, Hanna Diprimeo – second place and Larry Gurka’s grandson Quentin – third place.
